When replacing folding handles or multi-part mechanical handles, the exact hole spacing is crucial. The hole centres (distance from drill hole centre to drill hole centre) are standardised and generally based on the System 32 grid.

Measure the distance between the existing screw holes using a vernier calliper. Common dimensions include:
