Each grommet consists of brushes holding the cables so that they cannot move. After closing the flap of the grommet, it can be placed in the desired place.

A cable grommet is a product which you can fit to furniture, e.g. at your desk, in order to finish the opening through which cables run, e.g. to your computer. As a result, you will not only improve the aesthetics of the arrangement, but also ensure that the cables do not get tangled up and remain in place.

 

➡️ How can I install a cable grommet in my desk?

The installation of cable grommets should start by taking measurements. Where the cable grommet should be installed depends on individual needs and preferences. The most common place chosen is in the middle of the desk, but there is nothing to prevent you from installing a cable grommet on the side, front or back of the furniture - it is technically indifferent. The dimensions of the furniture grommet you purchase need to be transferred to the place where you want to install the piece. Usually, the grommet consists of a plastic circle, a small tunnel through which the cables pass and an outer part that slightly protrudes above the surface of the desk. If this is the model you have decided on, remember to transfer the size of the inner part, which will be inserted into it, to the piece of furniture, rather than the outer, wider part, protruding above the desk. Once the space has been marked, it is time to move on to cutting the hole. Here there are many possibilities, and how to do it depends mainly on the material of the furniture. A standard tool will be a drill, but in the case of narrow chipboard, a router or similar tool will do just as well. The walls of the hole can be protected with varnish, but this is not necessary as they will be covered with a cable grommet anyway. It is very important that the measurements are taken as accurately as possible, as the via should be securely seated in the hollow.

There are many sizes and shapes on the market, e.g. round with a diameter of 60mm and 80mm, square or rectangular with larger dimensions.
