Pull out shelves are wardrobe inserts mounted on full-extension runners that bring trousers, shoes, folded clothes and accessories out of the cabinet and into daylight, instead of leaving them buried at the back of a 500–600 mm deep carcass. Every unit in this category runs on ball-bearing slides with integrated soft-close, is sized for standard wardrobe widths of 60, 70, 80 and 90 cm, and is finished in grey (anthracite) powder coating with chrome or aluminium rails that match the hardware of modern wardrobes and walk-in closets.

What a pull-out shelf does inside a wardrobe

A wardrobe is, in effect, a deep box with a door in front of it. Everything that sits further back than an arm's length is hard to see and even harder to reach, so clothes get stacked, crushed and forgotten. A pull-out shelf turns that box into something closer to a chest of drawers: the whole insert slides out on telescopic runners, you see the full contents at a glance, and the load is carried by the runners rather than by a shelf edge.

The inserts in this range are designed for carcasses built with the System 32 hole pattern and side panels of 16–19 mm. They attach to the inside faces of the wardrobe sides, exactly like a drawer runner, and need no additional frame. The slides are full-extension, so the insert travels 100 % out of the carcass; a partial-extension runner would stop at roughly 75 % and leave the back row of trousers or shoes out of reach.

Types of pull-out shelves in this category

Pull-out trouser hangers

The most popular insert. A frame with 8–12 parallel bars holds trousers folded once over the bar, so creases stay sharp and nothing slips to the floor. Models are matched to the cabinet width: the pull-out trouser hanger for 60 cm cabinets, the 70 cm version, the 80 cm version and the 90 cm version. All of them combine the hanger with a single flat shelf underneath, so belts, scarves or a folded jumper travel out together with the trousers.

Pants hangers and double pants hangers

Where several trousers need to hang on one bar, the pull-out pants hanger and the double pants hanger offer two rows of bars in a compact frame that also suits narrower wardrobe sections.

Pull-out shoe shelves

A sloped shelf with a front stop presents shoes heel-up at a slight angle, so each pair is visible without pulling out the row behind. The pull-out shoe shelf for 60 cm cabinets and the 70, 80 and 90 cm versions (for example the 90 cm shoe shelf) use chrome and aluminium rails on a grey frame and can be stacked several units high in a tall shoe cabinet.

Multifunctional shelves

The multifunctional pull-out shelf for 80 cm cabinets and its 90 cm counterpart combine an aluminium frame with a wood-effect shelf: a flat surface for folded clothes, handbags or storage boxes that doubles as a work surface at chest height when pulled out.

Choosing the right size

  • Cabinet width – the product name gives the nominal carcass width (60, 70, 80 or 90 cm). The insert is built for the clear inner width that results from 16–19 mm side panels; measure between the inside faces of the sides and compare with the dimensions on the product page before ordering.
  • Depth – wardrobe carcasses are typically 500–600 mm deep. Check the length of the runners against the clear inner depth so the insert closes fully without touching the back panel.
  • Height between shelves – trouser hangers need roughly 150–200 mm of free height above the frame so folded trousers can be lifted off the bars; shoe shelves need less, but allow for boots if they are to be stored there.
  • Mounting height – fit trouser hangers at hip to chest height. Lower positions suit shoe shelves and laundry baskets.

Installation in a few steps

  1. Empty the wardrobe section and remove any loose shelf that sits where the insert will go.
  2. Mark the runner position on both side panels at the same height, using the existing 32 mm row holes where available.
  3. Screw the runners to the sides, keeping both exactly parallel; a 1–2 mm difference front to back is enough to make the insert run stiffly.
  4. Clip the insert onto the runners, push it in until the soft-close engages, then pull it fully out and check that it does not touch the door hinges or the door itself when the doors are open at 90°.

Most inserts also work in freestanding wardrobes with hinged doors; with sliding doors, check the free passage width, because the door overlap narrows the usable opening.

Combining pull-out shelves with other wardrobe fittings

Pull-out shelves are one part of a wardrobe interior. A pull-out wardrobe rail for jackets, a pull-down wardrobe rail for the top section, wardrobe shelf brackets for the fixed shelves and a laundry basket below complete the layout. All of these, together with wardrobe handles and hinges, are grouped in wardrobe fittings. If you prefer boxes to inserts, the drawer systems and soft-close drawer runners provide the same comfort with closed drawers, and the cupboard pull-out storage range covers kitchen base units.

Frequently asked questions

Do the pull-out shelves fit flat-pack wardrobes?

Yes, as long as the carcass sides are at least 16 mm thick and the clear inner width matches the nominal size (60, 70, 80 or 90 cm). Flat-pack wardrobes with 32 mm row drilling are the easiest to fit, because the runner holes line up with the existing pattern.

What does soft-close mean on a wardrobe insert?

A damper built into the runner catches the insert over the last 40–50 mm of travel and pulls it closed slowly, so the frame never bangs against the back of the cabinet and the clothes on the bars are not shaken off.

Can I fit two inserts above each other?

Yes. Leave enough free height between them for the items stored: around 150–200 mm for trousers on bars, less for shoes. Each insert needs its own pair of runners.

Can a pull-out trouser hanger be used for ties and belts?

The bars suit belts and scarves as well; for ties, the single-shelf models give a flat surface where a tie organiser can be placed and travels out with the hanger.

Is the grey finish the same across the range?

All inserts share the same anthracite-grey powder coating on the frame, while the rails are chrome or aluminium, so mixed sets look uniform inside one wardrobe.
