Screw the metal pins of the cam lock connectors into the pre-drilled holes, typically with a thread diameter of 5 mm. Tighten them by hand without overtightening into the material.

2. Assembling the Carcase

Now join the base, top panel, and any fixed intermediate shelves to one of the side panels. Slot the components together so the metal pins engage with the large drillings in the cross panels. Insert the round cam lock housings and turn them approximately 180° clockwise using a screwdriver until the joint pulls tight. Next, fit the second side panel and lock it using the same method.

3. Securing the Back Panel

The back panel provides the cabinet with its square stability. Lay the carcase face down on the floor. Measure the diagonals of the carcase (corner to corner). If both measurements are identical to the millimetre, the cabinet is square.

Now nail or screw the back panel into place. On many models, such as a shoe cabinet with depth of 30 cm, the back panel is slid into a pre-grooved channel before the top panel is fitted. If this is the case, nailing is not required.

4. Internal Division and Mechanisms

At this stage, assembly differs depending on the cabinet type:

For shoe tippers: Mount the plastic side pivot brackets onto the internal walls of the carcase. Assemble the shoe compartments. These usually consist of a front panel and several narrow shelves made of chipboard or plastic, screwed between two side supports. Hang the completed tilt compartments into the pivot brackets.

For classic shoe cabinets with doors: Screw the cruciform mounting plates for the concealed cup hinges onto the marked positions on the internal walls (usually System 32). Press the round hinge cups (usually 35 mm diameter) into the routings in the doors and screw them in place. Then clip or screw the doors to the mounting plates. Insert the shelf supports at the desired height and place the shelves inside.

5. Fitting Handles and Feet

Fit the furniture feet or base glides to the underside. Then stand the cabinet upright. Fasten the handles from the inside of the front panels. Take care not to overtighten the screws to avoid damaging the decor finish.

Wall Mounting and Anti-Tip Protection

A shoe cabinet must always be secured to the wall. Opening the flaps or doors shifts the centre of gravity forwards. Shallow models in particular, such as a narrow shoe cabinet 20 cm deep, tend to tip without fixings. Even with a substantial shoe cabinet 100 cm wide, anti-tip protection is indispensable when heavy shoes are stored on the upper shelves.

  1. Place the cabinet in the desired position.
  2. Align it accurately using a spirit level. On uneven floors, use small packing shims or adjust the height-adjustable feet.
  3. Mark the drill holes through the provided mounting brackets on the back of the cabinet onto the wall.
  4. Move the cabinet aside, drill the holes (usually 8 mm), and insert wall plugs suitable for your wall structure (masonry, concrete, or plasterboard).
  5. Move the cabinet back and screw it firmly to the wall.

  • Uneven door gaps: If the doors rub or hang askew, the concealed cup hinges must be adjusted. The front screw on the hinge arm adjusts the door to the left or right. The rear screw regulates depth (distance from the carcase), and the height can be adjusted via the mounting plate.
  • Flaps not closing flush: On shoe tippers, this is often caused by a carcase that is not entirely plumb. Check alignment with a spirit level. An uneven wall can also pull the carcase out of shape when screwed tight. In this case, slightly loosen the wall fixing and pack out the gap behind the unit.
  • Stripped screw holes: Chipboard does not forgive overtightening. Use the cordless screwdriver only on a low torque setting, or tighten screws the last few millimetres with a manual screwdriver.
