Alignment and strength in one joint

These wooden dowels locate the two panels against each other and, once glued, add a mechanical key that stops the joint racking.

  • Fluted body: The grooves let surplus adhesive escape so the dowel seats fully in the hole.

How to use the dowels

    Use an 8 mm bit with a depth stop so the dowel sits half in each panel.

    Glue and insert

    Put adhesive in the hole rather than on the dowel, then tap the dowel home.

    Clamp up

    Bring the joint together and clamp until the adhesive has cured.
