System 32 is an international standard in furniture manufacturing based on a continuous hole spacing of 32 mm. This standardised line of drillings in the cabinet sides allows for the flexible and precise installation of furniture hardware such as hinges, runners, and shelf supports. What Exactly Is System 32?

System 32 functions as the invisible coordinate system of modern furniture construction. It was developed to standardise the industrial production of cabinet parts made from chipboard or MDF. Instead of making individual drillings for every single piece of hardware, the cabinet side panels are prepared with continuous rows of holes.

This line drilling allows the fitter or joiner to adjust shelf heights variably and screw hardware into place according to standards. Almost all reputable furniture fittings manufacturers align the mounting positions of their products precisely with this grid.

The precision of the system relies on firmly defined distances and diameters. When a cabinet is manufactured to this standard, the following technical specifications apply:
