  • Applying force at the limit stop: If the adjustment screw can no longer be turned, the maximum adjustment range (usually +/- 2 mm) has been reached. Do not continue turning with force. Otherwise, the thread will strip from the hinge arm.
  • Wrong hinge overlay chosen: If an inset hinge was fitted during assembly instead of a full overlay hinge, no amount of screw turning will adjust the door correctly. The hinge arm geometry is fundamentally different.

The middle hinges are then adjusted so that they sit tension-free. If a middle hinge carries too much tension, it can tear out of the chipboard over time.

Does a damper affect lateral adjustment? No. Whether a hinge features integrated soft-close damping or not has no effect on the position of the adjustment screws or the axis geometry. The adjustment is entirely identical for both damped and non-damped fittings.
