Clip-on mechanisms and slide-on mounting refer to two distinct attachment systems for securing a concealed hinge to its mounting plate. Whilst the slide-on version requires the hinge arm to be slid onto the plate and screwed down, a hinge with clip-on technology engages audibly without tools. What Do Clip-on and Slide-on Mean Exactly?
Concealed hinges / cabinet hinges functionally consist of two main components: the hinge cup, which is recessed into the door, and the cruciform mounting plate, which is fixed to the cabinet carcass. The terms clip-on and slide-on describe the exact mechanism and method by which these two parts are joined during final assembly.
Direct Comparison of Mounting Methods
With classic slide-on mounting (also known as push-on technology), the hinge arm features a slot. This arm is slid beneath the fixing screw of the mounting plate. The screw must then be tightened manually using a screwdriver (typically PZ2 drive).
