They are used, among other things, for assembling bookcases, attaching chair and table legs and many other components. However, the classic types of locknuts will only be suitable for perpendicular connections (such as the connection between a chair seat and a wooden furniture leg).

Once the holes have been drilled, install the t-nuts on opposite sides of the holes. The nuts should be completely flush with the surface, so that no part of them protrudes beyond the line of the plywood. If there are any irregularities, they must be smoothed out with a hammer (with thin plywood, however, care must be taken not to let the material fall apart).
